Hi there,

I’m happy to help you here!

If you purchased a domain from a third-party provider,  you can use it with your Squarespace site by following a process called domain mapping. This process requires you to change a few settings in your registrar's account to tell the domain where to point.

The DNS records stands for Domain Name System and the configuration panel tied to it, helps to enable the mapping of the domain.

You'll want to first link your domain to your Squarespace site. In the Home Menu, click Settings, and then click Domains.

Click Use a Domain I Own. Enter the full domain name you’re linking in the Domain Name box, and then click Continue.

Click Connect From Provider. Select your domain provider from the drop-down menu, iff you don't see your provider listed, select "Other".

Click Connect Domain. You'll see a message letting you know that the connection to your domain is in progress. Click Okay to continue.

After you connect your domain, a new panel will open with the records you need to enter in your provider account so your domain connects to Squarespace.

Keep this panel open for your reference, and then log in to your domain provider's site. There, you'll need to create the following records:

Alias: www

Points To: ext-cust.squarespace.com

You’ll also need to verify your domain by setting up a second CNAME to reflect the following:

Alias or Host Name: Your Unique Code (the code you received after you linked your domain in the Settings > Domains panel)

Type or Record Type: CNAME or CNAME alias

Points to: verify.squarespace.com

After setting up your CNAME records, you'll also need to configure your A Records to reflect the following:

Alias or Host: @ or Blank

Type or Record Type: A Record

Points To: (This one should be used if all 4 can't be used)

We haveguide on how toconnect a domain to your Squarespace site here:

Once these settings are in place, to verify that your domain settings are correctly pointing to Squarespace, could you take a screenshot of your DNS settings on your domain provider's end and add this as an attachment to this e-mail? We have a guide for taking a screenshot here:

You'll need to save this as a JPG, GIF, or PNG file so we can view it.

As a note: Once you do this your domain should be fully functioning within 72 hours (it can take this long for domain settings to fully update after alteration). :)

We look forward to assisting you further with this.
